Icebreaker - Tuesday 10 July - 18.30 - 20.30

The welcome reception was held at the conference venue, the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. 

Welcome Reception - Wednesday 11 July 18.00  - 20.00 

Networking, drinks and canapes at the prestigious St John’s College. An opportunity to explore the college grounds, take a guided punt along the famous backs of the river Cam or even try your hand at punting yourself!

Gala Dinner - Thursday 12 July 19.00 for 20.00 hrs

Participants were able to enjoy reception drinks under the wings of some of the world’s most iconic aircraft, including Concorde before being seated for dinner. FUSION Best Paper awards were announced during the evening. 

5k run - Thursday 12 July - 06.30

Pleasant run to Granchester, with the route starting from the Department of Engineering.

Other Activities

Take a pleasant walk to Grantchester (following the route of the 5k run), the setting for the tv programme of the same name.

Suggestion: head along the riverside path to the quintessentially English village of Grantchester – enjoy exploring the water meadows and perhaps relax in the famous Orchard Tea Garden. You can even learn about war poet Rupert Brooke who was a frequent visitor here. For those who prefer to walk, Grantchester can be reached via the same route and takes around 1 hour at a leisurely pace.
