STR

At Systems & Technology Research, we harness the power of technology to solve challenging U.S. national security problems. The U.S. military and intelligence services employ advanced technologies at all echelons, from central commands to battlefields, to create strategic and tactical advantage. Our mission is to provide this advantage through the development and delivery of innovative sensors and information processing capabilities.

We are motivated by a commitment to excellence in everything we conceive, design, develop and build; and we believe that by working collaboratively – among ourselves, our clients and partner companies – we can deliver powerful capabilities to our customers.

STR is a privately-owned, growing business focused on research and development for the defense and intelligence communities. STR has over 200 employees at sites in Woburn, MA; Dayton, OH; and Arlington, VA. Several programs have transitioned advanced technology to military and intelligence users.  We partner with dozens of businesses, large and small, as well as academic institutions and professors.  We recruit and hire at all levels: interns, co-op students, recent college graduates at all levels, mid-career and seasoned professionals.

STR specializes in advanced research and development for defense, intelligence and homeland security applications. While our primary focus is on serving US Government customers, we are pursuing commercial applications as well. We are a nationally recognized leader in research areas including:

  • Sensor Development
  • Sensor Signal Processing
  • Electronic Warfare
  • Computer Vision
  • Social Media Processing
  • Cyber Defense
  • Data Analytics
  • Command and Control
  • Precision Navigation

We are pleased to be sponsoring the FUSION 2018 conference and to participate as a member of this research community.

Darktrace

Darktrace is the world’s leading AI company for cyber security. Created by mathematicians, the Enterprise Immune System uses machine learning and AI algorithms to detect and respond to cyber-threats across diverse digital environments, including cloud and virtualized networks, IoT and industrial control systems. The technology is self-learning and requires no set-up, identifying threats in real time, including zero-days, insiders and stealthy, silent attackers. Darktrace is headquartered in San Francisco and Cambridge, UK, and has over 30 offices worldwide. For more information, visit www.darktrace.com.

Hiden Analytical

"Hiden Analytical celebrates more than 35 years of design, development and manufacture of quadrupole mass spectrometers. This year, we are pleased to release a new range of specialised mass spectrometers for fusion research. Our DLS Series instruments are designed specifically for the analysis of hydrogen and helium isotopes in fusion applications. Our flagship DLS-20 instrument is an ultra-high resolution mass spectrometer which can separate 3He and HD by mass, and has a sensitivity to 1 ppm of D2 in He.

Our products address a diverse range of applications - precision gas analysis, plasma diagnostics by direct measurement of plasma ions and ion energies, SIMS probes for UHV surface science, catalysis performance quantification - over a pressure range extending from 30 bar down to UHV/XHV.

Hiden Analytical was founded in 1981 and is presently situated in a 2,130 m2 manufacturing plant in Warrington, England with a staff of over 80. As a privately owned company our reputation is built on creating close and positive relationships with our clients. Many of these customers are working at the forefront of new technology - in the fields of fusion research, plasma research, surface science, vacuum processing and gas analysis. To maintain this reputation we have established exceptional levels of technical expertise in these areas within our company.

Hiden Analytical is committed to providing systems which meet the specifications of both new and existing clients, but further, enable the advancement of their work, whether it be pure research or the improvements or monitoring of products and process performance. We have a common vision, not only to supply the systems and instruments with first class performance specifications, long term reliability and professional service support, but also, and in many cases more importantly, to maintain close contact to ensure that our systems provide all that our customers expect, and more, from their investment in our organisation.

Thank you for a great Fusion Conference!!

Jul 15, 2018

We would like to thank everyone involved in the conference this year, and wish next year's conference in Ottawa all success! The conference is made by the quality of our technical programme, and this was excellent as in past years... We had record registrations (~500 people) and a very vibrant set of technical talks and presentations, expanding our notions of Data Fusion in exciting directions. Well done to all our paper award winners and runners up - this was a really tough competition and many papers were award-worthy. In future we would like to see recognition of more of our very best submissions through an honours list or similar. Thank you also to the plenary speakers - your efforts were particularly commented upon by many. Fusion's horizons were expanded with talks on Machine Learning (Gaussian Processes), Image fusion, and by a timely survey of the particle filtering method, from its statistical origins to the present day, presented in the Bootstrap filter's 25th anniversary year - thank you so much Carl, Jean-Yves, Adrian, David and Neil! The local organising team of Jo, Ella, Lisa et al. at IfM deserve special commendation. Their forebearance, patience and general good humour, not to mentiom highly professional organisation skills, were a true enabler of the conference. Thank you!! Finally, thanks to all of the conference committee, including TPC, special session chairs, tutorial chair and co-chairs for a real collaborative effort that made the Chairs' role a pleasure rather than a burden. All best wishes to you all and Fusion's future ventures. The Conference Chairs - Simon, Mila and Simon
